4 Bedroom House in Elk Rapids

Our first floor has a fully open floor plan with an living room with a smart TV, entry way, dining area, kitchen, 1/2 bath and spacious mudroom with attached laundry. Off of the kitchen is the deck with seating for 10. As you walk into the backyard you take a flagstone pathway to our patio ready for breakfasts, lunches or dinners outside under the shade of a large maple tree. Gas grill is a available as is a high heat electric sauna. Back in the house, off of the entry way you enter the "Michigan" den with a queen sleeper sofa couch, smart tv and office desks along with book cases complete with books for your casual reading. Off of the office we have the only 1st floor bedroom with a queen bed and private 3/4 bath.
The second floor stairwell ends at the smallest bedroom where you will find a single bed. The next room is larger and includes a double and single bed. The only bathroom on the second floor (a full bath) is newly remodeled. The last room is our master bedroom with a queen bed.
The driveway includes parking (3, maybe 4 cars max). We ask that you do not park on the side lawn. The garage is not for renter use. We have a bin of outdoor toys to use in the backyard, too.
We DO NOT have central air conditioning. We do have two heat pump/AC wall units on the main floor and in the upstairs master. The downstairs is sufficiently cooled and the upstairs remains comfortable if all doors to bedrooms are kept open during cooling times. The other larger bedroom upstairs has a window AC unit, too.
Our home is also NOT toddler friendly, due to the steep staircase and the older railing upstairs. The bars along the stairwell are wide enough apart to allow a small child to slip through and fall down the stairs. For this reason, we are NOT a good home for toddlers or crawling infants.

Summary: Nice family home with a large common area to hang out. Fans and room air conditioners kept the house comfortable. The backyard was also nice for the kids to run around and we had fun doing a s’more night. The beach is an easy drive or 30 min walk.

Summary: Very clean well maintained older home in a quiet neighborhood. Big backyard, with plenty of outdoor seating,, grill & fire pit. Good sized bedroom that accommodated 10 of us. Only negative was lack of cable TV service.

Summary: We had a wonderful time staying at this Elk Rapids rental. The house was cozy and had plenty of room. The house is within walking distance to both downtown and the beach. It was fun riding our bikes into town every day or to the beach. I would definitely recommend this rental property!

Summary: There was great communication during the booking process and quick answers for questions we had throughout the week. Joe was such a great host, meeting with us to make sure we knew where everything was and general rules for our stay. The house was so nicely decorated (inside and out) and impressively clean! Everything we needed was provided. The neighborhood was well lit and we felt very safe in the home. A short drive, bike ride or walk to downtown Elk Rapids and the beach gave us access to all the city had to offer. Thank you, Joe (and your family) for sharing your home with us. It was a very nice home-away-from-home for all of us. We would definitely request to stay again!

Summary: We've been staying at this home during the summer for several years. It has lots of room and everything we need to be comfortable during our stay in Elk Rapids. Its a short walk to town and the beaches we enjoy. The owners have been great to work with in the case we need anything.

Summary: Our family had a wonderful stay at Joe's property in Elk Rapids last week! The house was very spacious and had all of the necessities one could want for a comfortable visit. The kitchen was well stocked with every gadget under the sun along with most, if not all, of the essential condiments including sugar, flour, coffee, and tea needed to cook a meal. Beach towels and plenty of regular towels were available for use. The beds were comfy with lots of pillows to choose from along with ample dresser space to store clothing for the week. The book, board game, video, puzzle and card game selection was massive and fun to enjoy. The house itself is located in a quiet and very friendly neighborhood on the opposite side of the main highway from downtown ER. It is a short 5 minute walk to the grocery store and gas station and is very close to several good restaurants. This was our first stay in ER and we will likely be back as the beach in downtown is awesome! The lake is very sandy and perfect for relaxation and play. Tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground are located on the beach along with shade from some trees. Elk Rapids is in a perfect location to enjoy all the awesome sites and cities that Northern Michigan has to offer - only 30 minutes from Traverse City, an hour from Petoskey and Sleeping Bear Dunes, and roughly 1:45 to Mackinaw City. Since we have been back home many friends and family have seen our pictures and inquired about staying at Joe's house. Unfortunately, we have had to tell them he is booked the rest of the summer. Thanks for a wonderful trip - we will be sure to come back soon!

Summary: We've stayed here several times over the years and find it to be a very nice and relaxing place just a few minutes walk from down town Elk Rapids. The home is well kept with anything you need for comfortable stay. The owners a great people who are a phone call away if needed. Its like Home Away From Home in Elk Rapids.
